Lion Dance - Watercolour painting of a traditional ‘Lion Dance’ as performed during Chinese New Year in Stanley plaza back in February 2023.
I’m always captivated by these vigorous performances as the two ‘dancers’ inside the lion costume jump about with the rear crouching dancer often hoisting up the front ‘head’ dancer. Lion dancers are often exponents of Chinese martial arts and I can see how it would take many hours of practice to perfect the movements.
