This watercolor plein air sketch was created on location in Tin Shui Wai, a town in the northwest New Territories of Hong Kong. It depicts the Pagoda of Gathering Stars, a three-story structure built 600 years ago according to Feng Shui principles by the Tang clan. Legend has it that their chief dreamed of stars falling to earth at this very spot, which inspired the name. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this tranquil scene on a warm afternoon, sitting beneath the leafy shadows.
