Watercolour sketch of the famous Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance that takes place every year as part of the traditional Mid Autumn festival celebrations in Hong Kong. This tradition dates back over 100 years & started as a way to recover from a terrible storm. Fortune tellers advised that a ‘fire dance’ would prevent future storms & so a dragon made of straw with 70,000 burning joss sticks added was paraded through the streets by 300 dancers for 3 nights during mid-autumn.
