This pen study was inspired by a conversation with someone who plays in an orchestra during Cantonese Opera performances. I remarked how much I admired the outfits and makeup and thought I would try drawing something inspired by it. This represents a flight of fancy and something whimsical yet done with respect for an art form I find fascinating, merging classical costume elements with another iconic Hong Kong visual element.
