Old Lady passing the Fire Station Doors

I used to see her sometimes around my village, an old lady with a hunchback pushing her cart. She used to rummage through trash bins looking for metal, cardboard & scrap to recycle. She seemed so ancient & frail as she eked out a living, and when I saw her I felt mixed emotions. Pity & sympathy for her situation, yet also admiration for her constant hardworking spirit and energy. I remember one morning we passed each other on the roadside, I gave her a little wave and she smiled and said “Good morning my friend”. It made my day. How I miss her.
